According to Harlem Eats founder, Jessica Chornesky, who also produces NYC Kids Fest, a multi-cultural public arts festival for families and young children held in Morningside Park, the idea for the Harlem Food Truck Rally was borne out of last year’s successful Harlem Food Festival, which demonstrated how much New Yorkers love street food.

Jessica herself is a big fan of food trucks and food carts; back in the 1990s, she was the founder of Soup A La Carte, the first gourmet street soup cart in NYC. So she and the people at Harlem Eats thought, there’s all this food truck love, why not organize a food truck rally to bring families, kids, and foodies together over delicious food truck food?

This is a chance for New Yorkers everywhere to experience Harlem’s impressive and growing food scene. “We’re continuing to make Harlem a destination for people who are foodies to enjoy the neighborhood; there are great restaurants, mom and pop restaurants and great architecture,” says Jessica.

A larger food festival event, Harlem Eats, will begin May 3rd, and will last every Sunday until the end of October.Vendors and food trucks at the Harlem Food Truck Rally this Saturday will also be involved in the weekly Harlem Eats festival so if you can’t make it this weekend, you’ll have many opportunities in the spring, summer and fall to visit Harlem and get your hands on delicious foods.Harlem-Eats-Logo

The Harlem Food Truck Rally is open to people of all ages; there will be tables to sit and enjoy your food, as well as activities such as arts and crafts for the kids so bring friends and bring your family! It’ll be an awesome way to celebrate the coming of spring and get a taste of the best NYC food trucks.

  1. Reblogged this on Harlem Eats and commented:
Thank you DailyFoodtoEat for the awesome feature of Harlem Eats’ very own founder Jessica Chornesky! We appreciate all the support from our fellow foodies. Come check out the Harlem Food Truck Rally to kick off spring THIS SATURDAY MARCH 29th 11am-5pm FDR blvd between 117&118sts. Loved us and want more? Harlem Eats food truck showcase every weekend from May 10th-October.

  2. Unfortunately due to poor weather conditions we have to postpone our event by a week! Same food trucks, same event, same time, same place but now on SATURDAY APRIL 5th 2014.

We are really sorry for this! We were looking forward to it just as much as everyone else- but poor weather can be really disruptive to food vendors. We want to ensure that the Food Truck Rally is a success, so please join us next week instead (On the plus side, that’s 7 more days to figure out which pants are going to stretch the most for optimal eating!)

Also, check out our awesome new flyer at harlemeats.org
